GOOD NEWS!

The

Good News Foundation is an amazing organization.  Founded by five of the most gorgeous news journalists in Los Angeles, the Good News Foundation is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of at-risk and needy people in Los Angeles.  At their big event at the Nokia Club, they honored several local charities and helped provide much needed computers and school supplies.  Cloud and Fire Ministries is greatly honored to be among them.

Dorothy Lucey is the entertainment reporter for the Emmy award-winning Good Day LA, seen weekday mornings on KTTV FOX 11. She is also a member of Malibu Presbyterian Church, where she first learned about Cloud & Fire. She has even built houses in Mexico for Baja Christian Ministries alongside Cloud & Fire youth!  Over the years, she has gotten to know us, and now we are so thrilled to be one of the Good News Foundation charities!

The Good News Foundation Luncheon was held at Club Nokia at the gorgeous L.A. Live venue!  Everything was completely first class.  Matt Goss, an amazing singer who the Good News Girls had heard in Las Vegas, serenaded the crowd with his Sinatra-esque style. Several organizations were highlighted, including the Good Shepherd Shelter for women and children, and the Anaheim White House, a restaurant that has been feeding homeless children.  Most of us were crying the entire time because the stories were so beautiful.  Wendy Burch, who emceed the event and was well acquainted with each of the charities, was in tears so often, and choked up while trying to relay the stories of hope.

In a time when so much of what we hear is negative, it is really refreshing to know that there really IS some GOOD NEWS out there!  It’s wonderful that women from the news industry are willing to stop and take a look at positive things that are happening in our city, and to showcase those efforts.  But what is even more refreshing is the fact that these women didn’t stop there.  They enlisted help from their friends, from their industry, and from the corporate world, to reach out and provide some very practical, meaningful assistance to organizations that are hard at work to help the needy.  Cloud & Fire is going to be blessed with ten brand new computers from the Good News Foundation, along with $5,000 worth of supplies from Office Max!  Thank you, Dorothy, Wendy, and all the Good News Girls, for your insight, creativity, and generosity.  We are GRATEFUL!
